Untitled The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (LACMA) and The Academy collaborated on the co-presentation of a major U.S. exhibition highlighting the "Prolific Career of Mexican Cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa."

This exhibition, "Under the Mexican Sky: Gabriel Figueroa" is an absolute, must-see! The exquisite layout is highlighted by cleverly crafted film-viewing stations, an astonishing array of prints and original artwork by those who had a strong influence on Figuero, and an exciting display of iconic Hollywood memorabilia - courtesy of The Academy.

With much attention to detail, the curators...read more...

Untitled The 40th Student Academy Awards is always a bright spot on the Academy's calendar! It not only gives students the opportunity to share their works in a grand scale; but, it also affords them awards, recognition, opportunities and more. In fact, many of the student participants and winners go on to rewarding careers in both Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

The night's host, Bob Saget, was in fact a Student Academy Awards Winner! As he moderated, he skillfully (and comically) blended his own experiences with examples of other Hollywood Greats that had their start in this prestigious contest. Such names as ... read more...

Untitled A 40th Anniversary Screening of Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon.

Presented in an original 35mm Technicolor dye-transfer print from the Academy Film Archive, it was tastefully used to introduce and celebrate a new exhibition titled: "Kick Ass!: Kung Fu Posters from the Stephen Chin Collection."

Once again, the Academy proved its commitment to celebrating, honoring, and extolling cinematic treasures. Special guests in attendance for this once-in-a-lifetime-event were co-stars John Saxon and Bob Wall, producers Paul Heller and Fred Weintraub, cinematographer Gil Hubbs, composer Lalo Schifrin and Shannon Lee, daughter of Bruce Lee.

The insights and stories that the panel shared with the audience were priceless... read more...

Untitled Both Sides of the Camera: The Innovative Genius of Jerry Lewis.

What better place than the Samuel Goldywn Theatre at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to experience a night with the Comedy Legend, Jerry Lewis!

Throughout the course of the evening, The Academy featured some of Lewis' career highlights as he commented with his ever sharp wit and humor, proving he still has "it!"

The audience was treated to such as fair as: scenes from his comedic works with his former entertaining partner, the Legendary Dean Martin; stills and movie clips from his solo career - in the beginning and after the Lewis and Martin "break-up"; and, the introduction and explanation of the amazing and cutting-edge work he created with ingenuity and fervor after his contracts ended with the Studios. In fact, many of his influences can... read more...
