Pincus
A Film by David Fenster.

Los Angeles, CA - Pincus Pincus Finster (played by David Nordstrom) is a man without a plan. His dad has Parkinson's, his business is going belly up, he doesn't have a clue as to what he wants, and he can't seem to get his life together. One thing is clear though, he loves his dad (played by Paul Fenster).

Pincus, it would seem, is in a quandary. As his dad's caregiver, he wants to give his dad a full life; but, part of him resents that he doesn't have time for his own life. Pincus hopes to stall his father's Parkinson's and so proactively searches out alternative modes of healing; but, Pincus isn't convinced of their benefit. And Pincus seems to want more from life; but, he tackles everything so halfheartedly! All the while, Pincus' best (and only) friend, Dietmar (played by Dietmar Franosch), stands as the only voice of reason, notwithstanding his propensity for drinking, smoking pot and insistence on living existentially.

Inevitably, life comes to a head.

One of the wonders of Pincus is how Director David Fenster shot the film. He chose to weave the acting with documentary footage he shot in and around his hometown and of his father, Paul Fenster (who plays Paul Fincus), who has been living with Parkinson's for 13 years. He seemlessly wove the two into a movie that flows with heart, soul and wonder.

Another clever aspect of Pincus is the choice David Fenster made of casting family and friends. Clearly Pincus is a revelatory film, not in an auto-biographical way, but as a peek into human existence, thought, and self-revelation.

Pincus draws you in with its unique and touching glimpse of real people, real illness, and real perspectives, all the while gently reminding the viewer that we may very well be getting a glimpse not into Pincus' life; but, into our own.
